D1GP Revs Into Thailand

Climax to Feature Thailand vs. Japan Battle

D1 Corporation has announced a partnership with Inspire Entertainment of Thailand to launch a Thai D1GP national series. This partnership forms part of D1 Corporation's goal of organizing a D1GP World Cup that will see participants from and events in other parts of South-East Asia, Russia, Korea and China. The announcement was made at a press conference held in Bangkok and attended by more than 250 people including 80 media personnel.

Inspire Entertainment has already licensed the TV and DVD rights to D1GP, as well as the rights to San-Ei Shobo's "Option" magazine. In addition to the D1GP Thailand National Series, it was also announced that the Bangkok International Auto Salon will be held for the 1st time in Thailand. Rounds 1 and 2 of D1GP Thailand national series will be held on June 30 and July 1, in conjunction with Bangkok International Auto Salon which will run from June 22 to July 1. Rounds 3 and 4 are scheduled for September 1 and 2 whilst Round 5 till take place in either November or December of 2012, wrapping up the series with a special round that will feature a Best of Thailand vs. Best of Japan battle.

D1GP, together with sponsors Up Garage, Bride, Enkei, Yokohama Tire, Toyo Tire, Dunlop, as well as San-Ei Shobo also announced a donation equivalent to a total of 250,000 baht to the Thai Red Cross as a show of support for the victims of the flooding disaster in Thailand recently.

EVENT REPORT

Press Conference

D1GP executives as well as top drivers Yoichi Imamura and Ken Nomura attended the press conference held at the Thunderdome Sports Complex in Bangkok. The drivers showed off their drifting skills on Yokomo's radio controlled cars, much to the excitement of the crowd.

Venue Race

D1GP executives, Yoichi Imamura and Ken Nomura inspected one of the proposed venues for D1GP Thailand, "Wonderland" in Bangkok. Familiar with local drifters, the venue is also the site of numerous drag and skateboarding events.

Media Activities

Appearance on local TV Yoichi Imamura and Ken Nomura kept busy with endless media interviews and photo sessions immediately upon arrival in Bangkok Airport.

Sherry

D1GP Girl Hotaru Suzuki brought along her girlfriends from girl band Sherry. In addition to press interviews and photo shoots, Sherry was invited to perform at the press conference and during the half-time show of a local football match!
